Java Red Weigela Java Red Weigela

It is a dwarf, only rarely exceeding four feet of height, making it at its biggest half the size of the majority of Weigelas. Due to its compact habit it is one of the least prone to ranginess when left unpruned, though some degree of ranginess seems inescapable even with a compact dwarf. This plant is useful as a background planting, summer screen or in shrub borders. This shrub is deciduous.

The Wiegela 'Java Red', Weigela florida 'Java Red', is one of the oldest Wiegelas.

Midnight Wine Weigela

Minuet Weigela Minuet Weigela

The corolla is ruby red, the petal lobes are lilac-purple, and the throat is yellow. The Minuet is hardier than other dwarf cultivars. It's compact, rounded shape is very attractive. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and birds.

Leaves are dark green, oval and tapered, to 2.5 inches long. Dark pink flowers with pale pink-white interiors, to 1 1/4 inches long are produced in corymbs on short lateral twigs on previous years growth in late spring to early summer.Flowers are attractive to hummingbirds.
