Sterile flowers appear in August and remain on the plant until the first hard frost.The large conical shaped white flower heads turn to pink in the fall with gray-green leaves. Sent to America from Japan in 1861, this continues to be one of the best loved varieties. The blooms can easily be used for drying. 6+ foot height at maturity.

Late Panicle Hydrangea

The flowers are a mixture of sterile and fertile flowers which gives the flowers less density and less likelihood to tip or droop. Flowers will turn bronze in fall. Prune every year in the fall after blooming, no more than 1/3 of the plant. These plants look best when they are kept pruned to keep them thick at the base. They are hardy and will not need to be covered to flower.

Little Lamb Hydrangea

Oakleaf Hydrangea

It features elongated white flowers which slowly turn pinkish purple with age. It as well may be used for backgrounds, accents or specimens, foundation plantings or hedges. Best grown in fertile, medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Mulch root zone in summer and provide somewhat constant moisture. Little pruning is needed, but should be done any time after flowering.
