Lords and Ladies
What makes this Arum so different is that its beautifully shaped. Marked and veined leaves appear in autumn and stay green all winter. Its inflorescence, the only conspicuous part being its soft yellow-green bract, consists of a spadix. Arum takes a year or two to establish well. These plnts flower in late summer and bloom for 4 to 6 weeks. They are deer, rabbit and squirrel resistant.
The Lord and Ladies, 'Arum italicum', a fall planted bulb, not only grows wild in Italy but as well in Southern France and Spain, so it is a real Mediterranean plant.
