Eye of the Tiger Iris
This is one of the most cold-resistant variety of the Dutch Iris. Dutch Iris thrives best in moist, well-draining soil. The Iris blooms in late spring to early summer for a 2 - 3 week period. For a more striking effect, plant the bulbs in groups of 20 or more. In cold areas the Iris should be mulched in winter to protect from frost. The Iris plant is great for borders, containers, naturalizing, and cut flowers. They are deer, rabbit and squirrel resistant.
The Iris 'Eye of the Tiger', 'Iris hollandica', a fall planted bulb, has electric dark violet-purple flowers that are excellent for cutting.
