Dogtooth Violet
The mottled foliage adds extra interest to this plant. The Dogtooth Violet has nodding, colourful, solitary, lily-like flowers on leafless stems. They are as well know as adder's-tongue or trout lily. This plant flowers in mid spring. It generally grows in groups of dozens to hundreds of plants. The solitary yellow flowers can truly brighten a landscape.
The Dogtooth Violet, 'Erythronium', are great naturalizing bulbs that produce yellow flowers and have brown mottled foliage.
